My Experience
Since becoming a freelance in June 2007 I have performed various roles, both on-air and off-air, for a number of different independent companies and for the BBC’s Gaelic- language services, BBC Radio nan Gaidheal and BBC Alba.
Specific projects include:
“Ulaidhean” (2007) : series for BBC Alba showcasing Scotland’s museums
“Spòrs” (2008 – present): as presenter and commentator on live coverage of football, rugby, shinty and other sports for BBC Alba
“Anns na Paipearan” (2010): series for BBC Alba investigating old newspaper stories, and interviewing those featured in them
“Gun Sgot?” (2012-2014): two series for BBC Alba as presenter of a “pub-quiz” style entertainment show.
Since 2007 to the present day I have also undertaken work for BBC Radio nan Gaidheal presenting a variety of shows, and as a newsreader.
I have undertaken freelance translation work for a number of different organisations, particularly in recent years for Social Enterprise Academy, assisting in the production of Gàidhlig course materials
I have also copy-edited two collections of poetry by Pàdraig MacAoidh for publication by Acair: Gu Leòr and Nàdar De

Researcher (BBC)
My time at the BBC began as a researcher on radio news programmes, based in Inverness.

2007
Broadcast Journalist (BBC)
While with the BBC I worked mainly as a reporter, presenter and producer for Radio nan Gaidheal’s news service and as a reporter on the award-winning European current-affairs television series, Eòrpa. My time on Eòrpa was spent researching stories and programme items from across Europe, directing the research of others and carrying out interviews and reporting work on location.
2007 - 2009
Translator / Editor (LearnNewsdesk)
LearnNewsdesk was an online news service for schools, run by the Guardian. In Scotland it was produced for Learning Teaching Scotland, and accessed via Glow, the learning network. My role was to translate content from English to Gaelic, and to produce original stories in Gaelic for use in teaching as part of the Curriculum for Excellence.
